Project: General Atomics Building 78
Mechanical Contractor: Jackson and Blanc
Scope of Work:
CMS worked with Jackson and Blanc to design a custom air handling unit for this project which had some special performance requirements. The building’s operation required the unit to supply 80,000 cfm of conditioned air for their process during the day, and a maximum of 16,000 cfm of tempered outside air at night and weekends. Also, the unit had special filtration requirements and had to fit within specific structural and dimensional criteria on the roof of this existing building.
For the air handling unit design, we used the custom capabilities of Energy Labs, Inc. to design a unit to meet all the above requirements. Utilizing dual plug fans with variable frequency drives, specially sized and controlled dampers and coils, and custom filter racks, we were able to meet all of the dimensional and performance requirements for the project.
