Mechanical Contractor: A. O. Reed
Scope of Work:
CMS worked with R. W. Johnson and Bechard and Associates to design the 1200 ton central plant, 240,000 CFM of custom central station air handling systems, and 240,000 CFM of lab exhaust air systems.
In the central plant design, high efficiency York Centrifugal Chillers with unit mounted variable speed drives were used to provide the owner with excellent full-load and part-load performance.
For the air handling system design, we used Pace air handling units with dual direct drive plug fans with variable frequency drives to design a space efficient and energy efficient system, which also provided excellent acoustic performance.
The lab exhaust systems were designed for both safety and performance. In addition, due to strict coastal height requirements, the fan systems had to be designed to fit into custom parapets designed into the building structure, and could not extend above the roof of the building. Utilizing Strobic Exhaust Fans, we were able to design and install a system that was safe, quiet, energy efficient, and fit within the space available.
Project Bill of Materials:
